Surviving the Flu Part 5 | Make The Best Informed Decision for COVID 19 Treatment

When it comes to making decisions for your health, it helps to understand what informs the choices that you make.

Years ago, I watched a documentary about life in North Korea. Something that made an impression on me was the radio that each North Korean home had. This radio only had government propaganda on and it could NEVER be turned OFF. I remember feeling very sorry for the North Korean people when I learned about the radio. What chance would they have to learn about any other type of life than the one that they lived if they were constantly being told a storyline that was controlled?

What I didn’t think about then was that we Americans are JUST AS POWERFULLY impacted by media that shapes our world view and decisions—without us even realizing it. Everything—from what we choose to eat for breakfast to how we choose to treat our cold or flu—has been shaped by media—media that for many of us is almost always ON.

What is the truth and does it matter? Most of us believe that it does, but the problem is HOW to know what is truth.

To illustrate one problem that presents itself when one depends on media for their truth, I’m posting just one video that illustrates a growing problem within media: news anchors from different television programs all using the same script and saying the same exact thing. It is difficult to know the truth if scripts are being written.

Another problem with depending on media for our information has to do with the principle that we become like that which we behold. If media is something you spend a lot of time with, your thoughts will more likely be in line with the paradigm of mainstream media, which reflects an ideology that there is no Creator God.

I believe that humans are spiritual creatures created with the need to worship and to know and understand the Creator, the source of truth and love. When this need is not fulfilled, “dis-ease” results. In our culture, who, what, and how we worship has been largely influenced by media rather than a search for truth. One does not have to look very far to see the societal and health effects that this has caused today.

Just as much as our breakfast decisions are being impacted, how we think about our health has been just as significantly impacted by media. Whether we choose to believe that God created humanity with powerful healing mechanisms that we can cooperate with to recover from illness, or if we believe that powerful medications are absolutely necessary for this flu or any other illness—these are beliefs that may not necessarily be made according to careful study and evidence. For many—some health care providers included—these decisions are informed largely by media and what we see others doing.

These are portentous times and it is vital that we know what to expect and how to respond to the things that happen in the days ahead. Who or what will you trust? Should you put your trust in the media that you are constantly being exposed to? Or is there a God in whose word you can truly trust?

John 8:32 says that if we continue in God’s word that we will know the truth and the truth will set us free. If you aren’t doing so already, I’d encourage you to take time away from media and put it into studying God’s word. Know the truth, so that no matter how crazy the world gets and how canned media is, it won’t matter. Your mind will be set free.

In upcoming blogs, I will write about other principles of WHOLENESS that you need to stay well. WHOLENESS is an acronym. Every letter stands for a law of health that needs to be in place for the human body to function properly.

W ater —proper hydration

H abits —of eating, sleeping, living.

O xygen —fresh air, sleep apnea, posture

L ove —relationship with God, self, others

E nvironment —chemicals/toxins in food, environment

N utrition —antiinflammatory healing foods

E xercise —at the right time, pace and especially outdoors

S leep—one of the most powerful remedies

S unlight —another underutilized remedy but so necessary and helpful for the flu too!!
